AMA Newsletter – January 2022
Frosty greetings to everyone!
We hope you had a safe and happy holiday!
And we have snow on the ground! Yeah!
New Year and a few new changes
The Spark Academy app has had some major failures lately. My deepest apologies. We are working with tech support to solve all these issues. In the meantime, our current (Academy) website provider has an option that we have been testing. We have several students testing this app.
The responses are: It’s easy to use, easy to navigate, extremely easy to view curriculum, crisp and very clear, extremely fast. We love the way we see the belt rank in the system and we can see the requirements for each level as well.
Features include either log into or book a class (attendance), shop the pro-shop, see the schedule, make changes to profile and payment You can now see your history from this point forward..
If you wish to transition, please let Mr. Deaver know.
The Academy Schedule has been updated on our website as well. Some minor changes for next year. We moved some things around so please be sure to check it out.! Tae Kwon Do for 6 – 11 year olds time has expanded to 45 minutes per class. As the class grows we needed more time for the students to learn drills and requirements.
Hapkido is now 4 nights a week and some new times.
We are now inviting younger students into the weapons class. Mr. Inman or Mr. Dennis may invite you to class, please feel free to come and try it out with them. Weapons class is an add-on (additional monthly fee applies). See Mr. Deaver for details
Schedule below
Private lessons:
We are offering 15 Minute Virtual private lessons for FREE! And 30 minute in person “PAID“ private lessons at the Academy. Both are for anyone wishing to utilize these as we wish to provide individual instruction for specific needs for students wishing to advance in rank
In the past Mr. Deaver also has used private lessons for his training and advancement in Hapkido, so we understand and appreciate the value we are able to offer. If you wish to use this feature please email Mr. Deaver and he will send you a link to register.
Testing
Moving forward we will be incorporating new testing procedures. To Be announced early 2022.
Students will pre-register via website so that all materials can be ordered in a timely manner.
Promotions:
Students attending the first class the following week will be handed the new rank and certificate at the end of the class as they dismiss and leave.
STRIPE TESTING (Red, White & Blue Stripes Tae Kwon Do 12 & up)
We are allowing enough time during and after the All Belts classes on Saturday to physically test for and receive any stripes earned. Monday – Thursday classes are not the classes to earn stripes as we have classes consecutively back to back. Again only 1 stripe per class may be earned. With 12 weeks between testing we have 11 Saturday’s to earn stripes.
Stripe testing for Tae Kwon Do (6-11 Yr. Old’s) 1 stripe is awarded every 3 weeks as students learn requirements for that cycle and the stripe is earned the 4th week during class time. Week #11 & #12 will be testing weeks for them.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Students: if you are not feeling well, sneezing or coughing regularly, please stay at home until you feel better.

NOTE: REMINDER AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED OUR TUITION INCREASE 1/1/22 (Posted in Sept, Oct, Nov. & Dec. Newsletters)
Effective January 1st, 2022, we will have a tuition increase for existing students who started before Oct. 1st, 2021. With the way things have been, we have not chosen to do so for well over two (2) years. With the cost of living and inflation, we are way overdue, so please anticipate about a 10% increase or a minimum of $10 as of 1/1/22. That is about a $2 increase per class or $10 – $25 more per month depending on # of programs, family members involved etc. On a positive note, moving forward in 2022, we will be eliminating all testing Fees in all programs apart from our Black Belt levels. We are grateful for your continued commitment to live your best life at the Academy of Martial Arts
