AMA Newsletter – Mid – May 2022
Welcome again to all new Students!
It’s graduation time of the year!
As mentioned in our previous newsletters, the Pulse Academy member app is working well and new videos are being added updated and added monthly. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, please scan the QR code at the Academy or on our front page of our website for the appropriate app store. Also, we will be taking student photos to add to the app for instructors for the new attendance feature coming soon. I am sure you have seen Mr. Deaver and Mr. Inman taking attendance with an ipad at the beginning of classes. Your picture will allow instructors to learn student names more easily as well. Parents, we have informational videos in the app under “Parent Resources”. The video covers many topics, from what the kids are learning to uniform questions days off, schedule, etc.
Parents/Students: ATTENDANCE: Can now be done in the app. Here is a video explaining the process
Now as it is getting even warmer, ACADEMY T-SHIRT MAY BE WORN DURING CLASS NOW THROUGH SUMMER

PLEASE NOTE OUR SUMMER SCHEDULE IS ON THE WEBSITE

During summers we group classes together more and offer morning Tae Kwon Do classes as well during the week so that the students may come and train early, then attend other activities during the evening. This has worked very well in the past and we will continue to do so.
LEVELING UP!
TESTING FOR THE NEXT LEVEL OR RANK
Leveling up will be Tuesday June 7th or Thursday June 9th. You may pre-register here for the day and time. Please be sure to numbers for any program that uses a belt for rank. Ex. #00, #2, #3, #4 etc. For Ninja Trix we have the following sizes Youth X-S – Youth Large sizes. Black Belts please remember your Tests for any Black Belt Ranks have fees! See Mr. Deaver for appropriate level fee.
Leveling up Belt (Testing)
The Academy of Martial Arts students must undergo a “pre-test” before being certified to promote to the next belt level. This is the purpose of the striping system in our Youth Traditional Tae Kwon Do program.
Belt Testing Eligibility
• Students must have earned all of their belt stripes. All traditional tae kwon do belts require: red, white, blue, green and black
• Youth Tae Kwon (6-11 Yr. olds) do have a separate stripe system
• All Hapkido have no striping system
• Students must have trained for 2 – 3 months (Depending on the level) since their last belt test. Any student missing substantial training time due to illness, injury, etc., must request eligibility from the Head Instructor.
• Patterns will be judged on the quality of these 5 areas: memorization, power, breathing, timing, & technique.
• The instructors alone may make decisions regarding a student’s readiness to test..
• If it has been more than 3 months since your last test, please inform your instructor during class. This information will help us target challenged students for additional training and guidance.
• Anyone seeking to test for Black Belt must apply 3 months ahead of time for testing. Starting June 1st for our next exam.
Promotions: Promotions will Occur the following week at the first class the student attends: Students will have Certificates, belt or stripe, Ninja Trix, Head Band & T-Shirts on a table to take with you on your way out the door. If you wish to get pictures please ask the instructors.
You can register here to Level Up
Referrals: Any one you know that can benefit from martial arts and if they come in and join we will give you a $20 gift. Just be sure they let us know you referred them.
Yes you make take time off, just turn in your 30 day notice before your billing date and you will be done. Please note however upon returning higher fees may apply. Due to the economy and constant increases in rent, utilities, insurance fees may be higher. To keep the same rate you are currently at but may only need to train 1 day a week due to other activities the billing company now has a maintenance option of 1 day a week. This way it keeps students going and they don’t tend to fall behind versus leaving totally especially with our new app and being able to train at home.
We are often asked, How Many Days A Week Should You Train?
Ultimately, training 2-3 times per week is ideal. Ramping that up to 3-4 times per week as you progress is even better. But never forget that ANY martial arts training is better than none, and there’s no better time to start than now. It really depends on your goals. If you are taking normal, traditional martial-arts classes, most folks will (depending on how much time they have) take 2-3 class lessons per week.
Bring a Buddy Saturday’s Please feel free to bring a Buddy to class. If you know they plan on attending, please email Mr. Deaver so he can send our Academy Waiver for them to fill out electronically before they visit the facility.
SPECIAL NOTE: Please Wash Hands and use Hand Sanitizer.
Students: if you are not feeling well, sneezing, and coughing regularly, please stay at home until you feel better.
