AMA Newsletter – August 2022
It’s already August – can you believe it! Back to school soon…
Please note: we are now using a Summer Schedule that ends on August 20th
THINGS TO KNOW FOR AUGUST THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2021:
- T Shirts May be worn year round. The special occasions such as test day, promotions etc. We will require FULL uniform, students in Youth Martial Arts, Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido may wear ACADEMY T-Shirts instead of their jackets. We still have several ACADEMY T-Shirts available for Sale.
- Web Access to curriculum & Forms Can now accessed on our website rather than a standalone app. Everything will be in one place easy to access. The my pulse app has had some issues in the last several months so the web provider now has the ability for us to load all the same curriculum, forms etc. Right into our website and grant you permission to view. This will be updated in the next few months and the app will be discontinued in Oct. We have a gym desk account that keeps track of payments, and all pertinent information from start date, to attendance to last test. That is strictly for keeping track of students. No access is needed at this time from parents, guardians or students.
- YOU ASKED FOR IT! Starting Sept. 1st, we will offer a new program “Empower Kickboxing” This program offers the following in a 4 month Format. 1st Month = Martial Arts, 2nd Month = Kickboxing, 3rd Month = Grappling & Weapons, 4th Month – Self-Defense. If you are interested in this program, check out this video. Then let Mr. Deaver know so he can get you more information
- Youth Martial Arts Students: Moving forward starting August 22nd we will have a separate class for the Solid Yellow Belts and above. In this class we will encourage students to purchase Gloves and Boots to use during class days Wednesday & Thursday’s as we will be hitting bags with punching techniques and kicking techniques. The gloves and boots will protect students hands and feet from injury as the gloves support the wrists of the students so that they may use proper form to prevent injury. In the past we have heard that students’ hands or feet hurt. Gloves can be sized in our pro-shop area, then email Mr. Deaver and he will order the appropriate size for you. The pro-shop only has samples at this time.
- Effective August 22nd Monday NEW SCHEDULE STARTS and with that, we will be offering a Beginner Only Class for any new students starting martial arts. This class will be for any new student starting any martial art we offer from Youth Martial Arts, to Traditional Tae Kwon Do to Chon-Tu Kwan Hapkido. Ninja Trix students, will not be required to attend this class.
- Protective gear required for all male students – Please make sure your male student in Traditional TKD or HKD is wearing a groin protector/cup to every class they attend. It is very important for their safety. These are available to order.
- Stripe testing – for Traditional Tae Kwon Do, Blue stripes should be earned first and can be tested for after any All-belts class. White stripes should be earned next, followed by red and green. Extra time is allotted after the All-belts classes to allow for stripe testing.
- Stripe testing – for Youth Martial Arts will have a calendar to review that shows our stripe schedule. When students miss a stripe they may make them up during Saturday Morning Classes.
- Private Lessons: are now offered and available to purchase for those students who: are behind in stripes, need extra work on stripes, would like to make up missed classes to earn stripes. Please see Mr. Deaver for availability.
- Advancement testing is the week of Sept 10th If you have to be out of town, please contact Mr. or Mrs. Deaver before Labor Day weekend, so we can make arrangements to test the student before the 10th. Remaining tests in 2022 will be in December.
- Referrals! Did you know if you give a referral and they sign up for a subscription, you get a $ discount on your next month tuition! Just a nice way to say “Thank You”.
We are asking everyone to help evaluate our testing procedures at this time.
Please help us by taking our survey! It should take less than 3 minutes and will provide important information so that we may better serve you.
